Ong Pagoda still preserves many ancient bells of historical and artistic value, cast in Guangdong, China and transferred from the Qing Dynasty. The casting style and materials are similar to the common Dai Hong of the Vietnamese people, but the decoration is more complicated and cumbersome on the bell body. Ong Pagoda is one of the temples with beautiful pagoda gardens.
Regarding festivals, before 1975 in Phan Thiet, the biggest folk festival was the “Nghinh Ong” festival in Ong Pagoda. In 1996 the festival was reorganized, attracting tens of thousands of people from all over.
The Nghinh Ong Festival is considered the country’s intangible cultural heritage due to its size and cultural values and due to its immense admiration by both the Chinese and the Vietnamese. For generations, Ong Pagoda has been the place where the nation’s traditional Tet holiday, people gather here to pray for a prosperous, happy, and lucky life of everyone, every family.
